Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr S. Ilhamghizi / Isa Gambar, the Chairman of the Musavat party, informed that his party was not preparing for the 2008 Presidential Elections and does not have discussions on the nomination of a candidate.
Gambar denied the media reports on his meetings with the Leader of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party and the Ex-Chairman of the Azerbaijan Democracy Party, Rasul Guliyev.
He also noted that he had discussed with them neither Presidential elections nor any other issues.
"The Musavat party does not take immediate preparations for the Presidential elections as for the time being we are interested neither in the elections nor in the unified candidate from the opposition. We deal with the problems of the society and allow people to define their fate themselves," Gambar noted.
The oppositional Musavat was founded in 1992. The Chairman of the party Isa Gambar was the Speaker of the Parliament in 1992-1993, and balloted in the 2003 presidential elections.
