Draft Agreement on Border Delimitation between  Azerbaijan   Russia under Development - Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr Trend E.Huseynli / Khalaf Khalafov, the Chairman of the Commission on Delimitation and Demarcation of the Azerbaijani-Russian borders, as well as the Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister reported that work on the demarcation of the Azerbaijan and Russian borders will begin after delimitation has been completed. All aspects are being considered for the total completion of the delimitation on a commissions level.

He noted that once co-ordinated, the draft agreement of the commission, based on protocols, will be signed. Khalafov said that Azerbaijan made more progress with Russia than Georgia, in its definition of state borders. In particular, 60% of borders have been co-ordinated with Georgia. Khalafov said that the next meeting of the commission on the delimitation and demarcation of Azerbaijani-Georgian borders will be held in Georgia.

"Prior to the meeting there are plans to carry out work on an expert level. The legal documents, as well as documents regarding the position and land structure are to be examined. Once this has been done, the date of the next meeting will be confirmed," he stressed.
