Azerbaijan, Baku /corr Trend I.Alizade / Oktay Asadov, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, stated at a parliamentary sitting on 30 March that the Milli Majlis [Azerbaijan Parliament] will show a film on the Azerbaijani genocide committed by the Armenians. He was commenting on an issue to eternalize the memory of victims of the Azerbaijani genocide, which was raised by MP Jamil Hasanli.

MP Hasanli noted that in 1998 President Heydar Aliyev signed a decree to eternalize the memory of victims of the genocide and build a monument in their memory. "However, though 9 years have passed since the Decree, the monument has not yet been built. Why has the presidential decree not been implemented when the Prime Minister stated to the Parliament that the Country's income is increasing day by day,' he demanded.

The MP also noted that the Decree also instructs the production of films and distribution of historic documents on the genocide in different countries in foreign languages. Unfortunately, nothing has been done as yet.

In his reply Asadov noted that the historians would be better to undertake the development of the script. "We are thinking of the monument and I accept your proposal,' the speaker emphasized.
