Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Calls Fiction the Information on Closing of Borders with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Agayeva / Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Nasir Hamidi, informed Trend that information regarding borders closing between Iran and Azerbaijan is fiction and does not correspond with reality. The diplomat said that borders are open and there are no problems with the entry and departure of citizens.

Commenting on the recent increase of Iranian citizens entering Azerbaijan, the Ambassador said that recent border crossings are not linked to the possibility of US military actions against Iran. According to Hamidi, the inhabitants of the border districts of both countries share friendly relations and during holidays, they visit each other; Hamidi further commented that the recent increase of Iranians traveling to Azerbaijan is related to Novruz Bayrami (a National Holiday of Azerbaijan).
