Jordan Embassy to Open in   Azerbaijan in May

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aghayeva / Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan, Elman Arasli, reported on 9 April, during bilateral negotiations held within the framework of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister's visit to Jordan, that the Jordan Embassy would be opened in Azerbaijan in May 2007.

According to the Jordan Foreign Ministry, a temporary plenipotentiary of Jordan will arrive in Baku at the beginning of May. Within the framework of the visit, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister met with his Jordan counterpart, Abdel Ilah al-Hatib, Prime Minister Maaruf al-Bahit and the Senate Chairman and Mayor of Amman City, Amur Almani. The parties held an exchange of opinion on the situation in the Middle East and South Caucasus, and discussed prospects of development of co-operation in different fields. A Memorandum on Co-operation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries was signed as a result.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister will then depart for Syria and Lebanon.
