Preparations for Russian Foreign Minister’s Visit to Baku Discussed
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aghayeva / The head of the Administrative Board of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Chepurin, and the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, discussed, on 12 April, details for preparing the forthcoming official visit of Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, to Azerbaijan. The visit is scheduled for 21-22 May. Topics concerning bilateral cooperation between the two countries will be discussed in the course of the visit.
Issues surrounding Russian people residing in Azerbaijan were discussed during the meeting of the two officials. Chepurin is the secretary of the Governmental Commission for Russians Residing Abroad Affairs. According to Mr. Chepurin, over 35mln Russians reside abroad, a considerable part of them live in the Southern Caucasus. Chepurin voiced his satisfaction with living conditions, education and religious opportunities created by the Azerbaijan Government for Russian people. " Azerbaijan is one of the most tolerant countries," Chepurin noted.
