President of Azerbaijan Encourages Development of Direct Co-operation with Regions of Russia
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, said on 30 April while receiving the President of Dagestan, Muhu Aliyev that presently there is a great necessity to develop direct co-operation with the regions of Russia with regards to economy, security and humanitarian sphere.
Ilham Aliyev particularly stated that his country has fraternal relations with Dagestan, a
country possessing long traditions. According to him, Azerbaijan and Dagestan demonstrate a common position on all issues of co-operation. "At present during their independency, Azerbaijan and Russia are linked through friendly and good-neighborly relations. And Dagestan, as part of Russia, takes a special place in these relations," said Ilham Aliyev, voicing his wish for the future co-operation with Dagestan.
Accompanied by a Governmental delegation, Muhu Aliyev arrived in Baku in the morning of 30 April on a one-day visit. Today he will also hold a meeting with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Artur Rasizade.
The key topics of the talks will be expansion of the economic relations, border trade, strengthening of security, ITAR-TASS reports.
