Azerbaijani President’s Visit to Egypt under Way
Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend /The Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, held a one-to-one meeting and a meeting in large with the President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarek.
During the meeting it was marked that Aliyev's visit to Egypt will promote the further expansion of relations.
They noted that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt, cooperation in political, economic and other areas are developing successfully. The two sides also mentioned intensive interaction within the framework of international organizations. The sides stressed that there is potential for expansion of relationships in the economic sector and its efficient use would be profitable for both sides.
The meeting touched upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh. The Egyptian president particularly stressed that his country supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and backs a peaceful resolution to the conflict under the principle of inviolability of borders.
During the visit the Azerbaijani president met with the rector of the world renowned Azhari Sharif University, Sheikh Muhammad Tantavi, in Cairo.
At present 76 Azerbaijani students study at the university along with young people from other Muslim countries. The university established in the 10th century at the Al-Azhar Mosque, expanded its activities and turned into a scientific-religious centre. There is Muslim Law, Theology, Arab Languages and Medical Departments at the University.
