1700 Customs Service Employees Discharged in Azerbaijan Over Past 12 Years

Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. E. Husseynli/ Aydin Aliyev, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, has said today that over the past 12 years, some 1700 employees of the State Customs Service have been discharged in order to ensure precision in customs bodies of the Country. Over 2000 of these employees were charged with disciplinary and criminal behavior. According to him, several employees of the State Customs Committee were involved in a criminal deal with employees of the Company, "Azepetrol".

Mr. Aliyev noted that checks were held to improve the level of professionalism of employees of the State Customs Service, as well as to prevent illegal actions in the mentioned state agency.

Experts from the U.S.A. have recently conducted an inspection concerning the issue.

The Head of the Committee noted that corresponding training would be organized in the future to ensure the correct performance of the employees of the Customs Committee of the Country.

Mr. Aliyev stressed that it is the first time that corresponding training has been organized to guarantee control over exports across the state boundaries. The Azerbaijani party has already started cooperating with their American colleagues regarding this issue.
