Full Repair Held in 90% of Temporary Isolation Cells

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Some 90% of temporary isolation cells of the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan have been fully repaired in compliance with demands of the new regulations and modern standards, the Interior Minister Colonel-General Ramil Usubov said during a speech at a meeting with the director of the Azerbaijani office of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Martin Amasheri.

The Minister reported that protection of human and civil rights and freedom, improvement of legislation are reform trends periodically implemented at the Ministry.

"The protection of detainees' rights, right for juridical aid, protection of the appellants' rights, transmission of appeals to higher instances and unimpeded meeting with independent experts are reflected in the new regulations," Usubov said.

According to the Minister, over 500 police officers have taken special courses on raising skills, knowledge on observance of norms, behaviour and ethics in treating detainees.
