Azerbaijan Ready to Cooperate in Any Format

Aghayev / "Azerbaijan is ready for cooperation in any format on the base of equality, mutual respect and trust," the Vice Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Co-Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission, Valeh Alaskarov , said during the 7th meeting between the bilateral Inter-Parliamentary Commission of the Russian Federation Federal Assembly and the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) held in Moscow on 24 May.

The development and strengthening of bilateral relationships between Azerbaijan and Russia, and the agenda issues of the Inter-Parliamentary Russian-Azerbaijani Commission were discussed. The reports on implementation of the decisions made during the 6th meeting held in Baku were delivered. Special attention was paid to cooperation on migration issues. The deputy head of the Federal Migration Service, Vacheslav Postavnin , spoke on the occasion. The development and strengthening of humanitarian cooperation including education was stressed.

Azerbaijani representatives attending the meeting included Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia, Polad Bulbuloghlu , MPs Arif Rahimzadeh and Mikhail Zabelin , and Azerbaijani representative in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, Aydin Jafarov . Russian representation included the Vice Speaker, the Co-Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission, Svetlana Orlova , Senator Farhad Ahmadov , and other members of the Russian-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Commission, and Russian state officials participated in the gathering.

Both sides stressed the necessity to go on with the activities of the Commission on improvement of Russian and Azerbaijani national legislation.

According to Ms. Orlova , the Commission assists in solutions to issues on bilateral cooperation in all fields and making right decisions while forming the legislative bases of both countries. Mr. Bulbuloghlu stressed that the Azerbaijani Embassy was ready to render assistance in solution to all current issues.

As a result of the meeting, a protocol was signed. The next meeting will be held in Baku in December, 2007.
