Russian Prime Minister Welcomes Azerbaijan’s Agreement to Join Humanitarian Cooperation in CIS

The Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Fradkov, called humanitarian cooperation of the CIS a priority. "Sufficient attention was paid to these issues today," he said at the press conference following the meeting of CIS Prime Ministers.

"The CIS Council on Humanitarian Cooperation is already functioning. Today, we discussed the details of organizing financial issues of the Inter-Governmental Humanitarian Cooperation Fund," the Russian Prime Minister said. "We are satisfied with Azerbaijan's initiative to join the Agreement on Humanitarian Cooperation in CIS," he stressed. "Now the Agreement unites eight countries working within the framework of the Council."

Fradkov reported that the agreements on improvement of professional skills in the education field, holding of a CIS Sports Day in Kishinev in 2008, cooperation in sports and other sectors, and a number of other agreements were signed," ITAR-TASS reports.
