By 2008 the Government of Azerbaijan Plans to Increase Salaries up to Living Wage: Chairman of Parliamentary Commission

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Alizade / The Chairman of Azerbaijan Parliament's Permanent Commission on Social Policy, Hadi Rajably, said that by 2008 the Government of Azerbaijan plans to increase the salaries up to living wage.

"Presently the living wage amounts to AZN 70. Increasing the salaries up to living wage will provide an opportunity to decrease the level of poverty to zero," Rajably said.

According to him, the level of poverty equals 20% and the Government is concerned by it. The minimal salaries will be increased whilst forming 2008 State budget.

Rajably underlined that the Parliament adopted a Law on Expansion of 2007 State budget. The salaries, pensions and social relief are expected to be increased in the near future.
