Preparations are Made for Jubilee Summit of BSEC: Ambassador

TrendTrend E.Huseynov, A.Ismaylova / The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkey, Zakir Hashimov , stated on the 6th of June from Ankara, by telephone, that preparations are being made for the jubilee summit of the Black Sea Economic Co-operation (BSEC) on 25 June in Istanbul.

The Black Sea Economic Co-operation was created in June 1992 in Istanbul and brings together eleven countries. The goal of the organization is to promote regional and multilateral co-operation with regards to trade, industry, energy, transport, communications, science and technology, agriculture, ecology, tourism, etc. The BSEC participating countries are Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.

According to Hashimov , on the 14th of May the expert delegations of the BSEC member-countries discussed the initial variant on the agenda of the summit in the Turkish city of Antalya. In addition, projects and documents put forward will be discussed by the presidents. These documents will again be discussed by the expert delegations at the meeting in Istanbul on the 23rd of June and will later be considered by the Council of Foreign Ministers on the 24th of June. These documents will then be presented to the summit on the 25th of June, the Ambassador added.

Hashimov stressed that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, is expected to attend the summit. Ilham Aliyev intends to make a speech at the meeting and hold a number of bilateral conferences.

The Istanbul summit will be held due to the 15th anniversary of the BSEC. The jubilee summit on 10th anniversary also took place in Istanbul on the 25th of June 2005.
