Azerbaijani President to Meet with CIS Countries’ Presidents in Saint-Petersburg

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, has plans to hold a number of tete-a-tete meetings with the heads of the CIS countries, Azerbaijani Consul General to Saint-Petersburg, Gudsi Osmanov, said on 7 June.

The 11th Economic Forum will begin in Saint-Petersburg on 10 June. An informal meeting of the CIS countries Presidents will be held within the framework of the Forum. The Forum will be attended by the Presidents of twelve CIS countries and the Prime Ministers of about twenty countries.

"Several heads of state want to meet with the Azerbaijani President. Preparation work related to organization of the meetings is in progress," Osmanov said.

The Azerbaijani President will also meet with Armenian President, Robert Kocheryan. They will continue discussions on Nagorno-Karabakh. From Azerbaijan, the Forum will also be attended by the Vice Prime Minister, Yagub Eyyubov, Minister of Economic Development, Heydar Babayev, Minister for Industry and Energy, Natig Aliyev, and the President of the International Bank of Azerbaijan, Jahangir Hajiyev.

According to Osmanov, inter-state agreements are not usually signed at economic forums. "However, preliminary agreements on investments in Azerbaijan's economy can be achieved," he said.
