Commenting on the possible use of Gabal RS in the interest of the anti-missile defense of Europe, the deputy minister said in talks with journalists that 'why construct something new, when there is a similar one?'
" Gabala RS enables us to fulfill all tasks on revealing the launch of missiles of every type from dangerous Southern directions. In accordance with the American theory, they should fear missile attacks namely in this direction," Russian General emphasized
RS in the Gabala District of Azerbaijan relieved attendance in 1985. It is capable of marking the start of ballistic and cruise missiles from a distance of 6km, design their trajectory and define the time of defeating the target. A ten-year Russian-Azerbaijani agreement to rent the station was signed in 2002. Rent for the use of Gabala RS is $7mln a year.
