Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / An agreement between Russia and the United States on the joint use of Azerbaijani Gabala Radar Station will prove Azerbaijan's strategic importance, the Chairman of the Democratic Reform Party, MP Asim Mollazadeh said.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, made the proposal to the US at the G-8 summit to jointly use the Gabala Radar Station.
The MP considers it very important for Azerbaijan to cooperate with the US and Russia regarding defense. "The United States is Azerbaijan's ally in the energy field, while Russia is a neighbour country. Possible cooperation in this field meets the interests of Azerbaijan, as it promotes positive development of the country. We do not want our region to be the spot of disagreements and of conflict of interests. On the contrary, Azerbaijan should become a region of cooperation. The Gabala Radar Station can contribute to this cooperation," Mollazadeh stressed.
