Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / Attorney Alizadeh Rashid Hajili stated that the appeal regarding the Major-General and the chief of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, Azi Aslanov's lawsuit against Zardusht Alizadeh , the political scientist and against the Azadlig newspaper was considered at the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.
The article 'Plots against Mirza Sakit' published on the 29th of June 2006 in the Azadlyg newspaper caused Azi Aslanov discontent.
Aslanov opposes that the article humiliates his authority, as well as his honor and dignity. Aslanov filed a lawsuit to the Sabail District Court against Zardusht Alizadeh and the Azadlyg newspaper. Concerning moral damage the plaintiff demanded some AZM 50,000 from each defendant.
The Sabail District Court came to the resolution of transferring AZM 50,000 by the Azadlyg newspaper and Zardusht Alizadeh on the ' Umud yeri ' charity institution account on the 9th of August, 2006. The Appeal Court decreased the sum by AZM 1.000.
Alizadeh appealed to withdraw the lawsuit.
The lawsuit of Alizadeh was withdrawn during the hearing held under the chairmanship of Gunash Khudaverdiyeva at the Court Collegiums on Civil Cases at the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.
The resolution of the Appeal Court is in force.
