Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend К.Zarbaliyeva / As a result of a joint investigation made by the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry and the Border Service Ministry some 86kg of hashish transported via Iranian-Azerbaijani-Russian routes, were seized.
Mirmehti Mirtagioglu Agayev, Lankaran born but presently residing in Moscow, and others whose identities are not being released but it is known that one other is a citizen of Iran, had consented to traffic drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan and Russia.
The citizen of Iran supplied approximately 56kg of drugs to Azerbaijan, brought over from Iran. He delivered the drugs to Ramin Agayev, the son of Mirmehti Agayev, in the Bilasuvar region of Azerbaijan. Agayev, in his turn, hid the drugs in his relative's apartment in Baku.
The next shipment of drugs (30kg of hashish) was illegally delivered to Azerbaijan by several Iranian citizens on 13 June 2007, whose identities have not yet been released. The drugs were again delivered to Ramin Agayev in the Andreyevka village of Jalilabad region of Azerbaijan. Agayev this time kept the drugs in his Baku-rented apartment. On 19 June 2007 as a result of a search in Ramin's relative's apartment, as well as his Baku flat, some 86kg of hashish were seized.
A criminal case has been filed in accordance with Article 206.3.2 (drug smuggling), 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 (acquisition, storing, transport, dispatch and selling of drugs).
