Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Ilhamgizi / Aydin Guliyev, the chairman's adviser to the Open Society Party (OSP), stated that he hesitates as to whether he is a member of the party.

Guliyev noted that the chairman's adviser post does not belong to the executive structure of the party and he has not submitted documents for membership to the party yet.

"There is no any document ratifying my membership to the party. I do not attend meetings of the party," Guliyev said.

Guliyev noted that he was out of relation with the party, but he does not intend to join to another party yet.

Yagub Abbasov, the deputy Chairman of the OSP, stated that Guliyev is a member of the party and Supreme Council. According to Abbasov, OSP was founded on the basis of the Azerbaijani Democratic Party (DPA) consequently a member of DPA is a member of OSP. Non participation of Guliyev at meetings is his own business. There are no discussions on excluding Guliyev from membership to the party.

The Open Society Party was founded in April 2007. Rasul Guliyev, Azerbaijan's former Speaker, is the head of the party. Guliyev and his supporters separated from the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan in February 2007 and established the Open Society Party.
