Opposition Parties’ Leaders Hinder Unification of Opposition Parties: Azerbaijan Classic National Front Party’s Chairman

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / Mirmahmud Miralioglu, the co-founder of the Union for Democracy and also the chairman of the Azerbaijan Classic National Front Party (CNFP), stated on 5 July that the large opposition parties refused to join the Union as they depend on foreign and internal forces.

"The information on establishing a consultative body of a range of large opposition parties does not correspond to reality. Spreading such information, the party leaders attempt to attract attention," Miralioglu said.

The chairman said the Union is aimed at establishing a unified consultative body through negotiations amongst political parties. The Union unites only three parties. The reason of parties' refusal to join the Union can be explained through their dependence on Government, foreign embassies and international organizations.

"Those who support us will be deprived of foreign grants. Foreign forces financing those who meet their interests. The party leaders did not allow parties to join the Union," Miralioglu added.

The Union for Democracy was established by the CNFP, Azadlyg and National Democratic Party.
