Russian President Decorates Ex-Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament with Friendship Order

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / Vladimir Putin decorated an MP of the Azerbaijani Parliament, ex-speaker of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), Murtuz Alaskarov, with the Friendship Order of the Russian Federation. The decoration ceremony was held at the Milli Majlis on 17 July.

According to the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and Chairman of the Azerbaijani permanent parliamentary commission on security and defence issues, Ziyafat Askarov, Murtuz Alaskarov was decorated for contributions to development of Azerbaijani-Russian relations. The Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Vasili Istratov, noted that Russia appreciated Alaskarov's contributions to the development and fortification of bilateral relationships in all spheres. Later, the order of Russian President was read and the decoration ceremony was held.

Alaskarov voiced his gratitude to the Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents for the decoration of Azerbaijan's 'Istiglal' Order and Russia's Friendship Order.

The Chairman of the Azerbaijani permanent parliamentary commission on regional issues, Arif Rahimzadeh, and the head of Milli Majlis Administration, Safa Mirzayev, spoke of Alaskarov's contributions to science and education.
