Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Makes Statement on So-Called ‘Elections’ in Nagorno-Karabakh

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend P.Amirjanov / The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) made a statement on so-called 'presidential elections' due on 19 July in Azerbaijan's Nagorno-Karabakh region occupied by Armenia. The statement says that so-called 'presidential elections' is contrary to the Constitution and laws of Azerbaijan and will not be recognized by the international organizations like OSCE, Council of Europe, European Union. "According to the article 6 of the Constitution of Azerbaijan, no social organization or person can appropriate the governing authority. The elections should be held only by the Central Election Commission in accordance with the Constitution and Electoral Code of Azerbaijan," mentioned by the statement.

In addition, the statement says that the action of those who will observe so-called 'elections' will be assessed as rough violation against the State sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
