Israel Simplifies Visa System for CIS Countries

Israel, Jerusalem, /corr. Trend Y.Mishiyev / The Interior Ministry and Ministry of Tourism of Israel decided to simplify the visa regime with CIS countries. Now it is possible to legalize visa for 48 hours.

The new rule will bring benefits not only to tourists, but also to Israel itself. Earlier, of 4mln tourists from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other former Soviet countries who were visiting resort countries of Mediterranean Sea, only 200,000 arrived in Israel. Many of those who travel to Turkey, Egypt, Cyprus and Jordan would not refuse to see sacred lands located in Israel. The tourists were prevented only by the long and difficult visa process.

Now the visas for the short-term visit are issued directly on the borders and the tourists do not need to legalize the visa in the diplomatic representations. The number of tourists traveling Israel increases. Nearly 25.000 tourists from CIS traveled Israel since the beginning of 2007 due to simplified visa regime.

A project has already been devised, which will provide an opportunity to the tourism agencies of Israel to establish ties with the tourism offices in Sina, Cyprus, Greece and Turkey and suggest the tourists from former Soviet countries to make a guided tour to Israel. Special two-day or one-day visas will expect tourists in Tabe (on border with Egypt) or Ben-Gurion airport.
