Number of Crimes Decreased in Azerbaijan – Azerbaijani Interior Minister
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr.E.Huseynli / Ramil Usubov, the Azerbaijani Interior Minister, stated during the press-conference of the Interior Minister on 25 July that 8,676З crimes were registered in Azerbaijan in the fist quarter of 2007. This figure is lower by 0,3% as compared to the same period in 2006.
According to Usubov, the number of grave crimes remained high 93.1% as it was in 2006. The number of willful murders decreased by 18.4%, as well as robbery by 15.4%, theft by 5.9%, theft of cattle by 23.9% and stealing by 11.4%. There were not registered cases on gangsterism and hostages.
Usubov said as a result of research some 8,171 people were arrested due to different crimes. Some 272 cases were disclosed, which remained since 2006. Forty-one grave crimes were investigated by the hot scent.
