Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Some 320 foreigners were made accountable in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2007 for illegal migration. Of them, 211 were evicted from Azerbaijan, the rest were warned, Azerbaijani Interior Minister, Ramil Usubov reported on 25 July at a press conference before a collegial meeting of the Azerbaijan Interior Ministry dedicated to the results of the first half of the year.
According to the Minister, compared to the same period of 2006, illegal migration of foreigners to Azerbaijan doubled.
Usubov noted that as a result of search operations regarding human trafficking-related crimes, 138 cases were exposed during the aforementioned period. In this connection 140 people and eleven gangs were made accountable, two organized crime gangs were neutralized, and fifty-five victims were revealed. Furthermore, 104 people were made accountable for crimes against public morality.
