Traffic Accidents Involving Pedestrians Increase in Azerbaijani Ganja City
Azerbaijan, Ganja / Тrend corr V. Mammadov / Some 34 pedestrians have been run over in Azerbaijani Ganja city since the beginning of 2007. Six people died and 30 were seriously injured, the head of the Ganja City Traffic Police, Adil Zeynalov, reported. According to Zeynalov, 29 traffic accidents resulting in death of 8 people and injuring of 11 happened in the same period of 2006. He notes that the accidents are mainly caused by the pedestrians themselves. Even toughening of measures regarding pedestrians cannot prevent the cases of violation of road rules.
In accordance with the Code of Administrative Violations, violation of road rules is fined with 3-8 conditional financial units.
