Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Alizade / The period of the monitoring by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Azerbaijan depends on the level of development in the Country, Council of Europe's position on situation in the Country and general process of the monitoring, said the member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, MP Aydin Mirzazade.

"There is not a concrete answer to this question. Ceasing monitoring of PACE in Azerbaijan may encourage other countries to require ceasing such monitoring," the MP said.

According to Mirzazade, Azerbaijan does not see any problems in the process of monitoring and is prepared to answer questions. He said that the main fact is not to cease monitoring, but present realities of Azerbaijan to the attention of PACE and international community.

Azerbaijan joined PACE in 2001. Since then, the PACE has been holding monitoring in Azerbaijan to study the level of implementation of obligations undertaken by the Country before the PACE. The Azerbaijani side considers that it has fulfilled its obligations and the monitoring should be ceased.
