Government of  Moscow Interested in Azerbaijani, But Only Legal Immigrants: Vice Mayor of   Moscow

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The Vice Mayor of Moscow, Ludmila Shvetsova, on 4 October at the press-conference followed by her visit to Baku said that the Government of Moscow is interested in the Azerbaijani immigrants, but only legal immigrants.

"The Government of Moscow is interested in the workforce, but we support the activities of the immigrants within the law," Shvetsova said.

According to her, the Government of Moscow takes all measures to resolve the problems with the immigrants. Shvetsova said that since the new Law on Immigrants was passed in Russia on 1 January 2007, nearly 14 684 Azerbaijanis are registered, Shvetsova said. In addition, she stressed that the Government of Moscow condemns all kinds of violence against Caucasus peoples residing in Russia.

"The Government tries to cut down such violence by the nationally adjusted people," Shvetsova said.
