Azerbaijan and   Germany Sign MOU

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / German's Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Protection & Nuclear Reactor Safety and Azerbaijan's Ecology & Natural Resources Ministry signed an MOU on the 'Clean Development Mechanism' projects.

The projects will be implemented in Azerbaijan to reduce the country's greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate change, the Azerbaijani Ecology & Natural Resources Minister, Huseyngulu Baghirov, said after the signing ceremony.

Germany uses modern technologies to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to its energy efficiency also, Germany's Secretary of State of the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Protection & Nuclear Reactors Safety, Astrid Klug, said. According to her, the purpose of signing the MOU is in order that Azerbaijan may apply Germany's experience in the country. According to EU reports, by 2020 atmospheric emissions by European countries will decrease by 30%.

On 4 October an international conference on 'Caspian Sea Enduring Development Strategy' began in Baku. Representatives of Germany, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Kazakhstan, are in attendance.
