European Court Makes Second Ruling over Azerbaijani regarding Registration of NGO

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva / The European Court on Human Rights passed a second verdict over Azerbaijan with regards to State registration of an NGO.

According to the complaint of the Head of the Centre for Journalistic Research, Sheyda Nasibova, Azerbaijan has been fined in amount of €3,000, a source in the European Court stated.

Nasibova, says that Articles 11 (freedom of assembly) and 6 (fair court investigation) of the Convention on Rights and Freedoms have been violated, a source in the European Court stated. According to the information, the claimant wishes the case to be fairly considered in court.

According to the court's judgment, the Centre for Journalistic Research should be registered. The Government of Azerbaijan will pay €1,000 as moral compensation and €2,000 for court expenditures.

The Centre for Journalistic Research, established in 2001, aims to ensure the development of journalism and freedom of press.

The European Court on Human Rights has passed six verdicts with regards to Azerbaijan.
