Georgian Conservatives Intend to Protect Georgian Rights in Azerbaijan

Representatives of the Democratic front fraction of the Georgian Parliament held a meeting with representatives of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tbilisi on 17 October. MP Zviad Dzidziguri, the leader of the Conservative Party of Georgia, headed the Georgian delegation, the Caucasus-Press reported.

Dzidziguri distributed information about the closing of the Georgian Church in the Kurmukhi village of Gakh region in Azerbaijan.

Dzidziguri said the issue concerning the Church was discussed during the meeting.

"We intend to involve international organizations in the protection of rights of minorities for freedom of religion in settling the issue," Dzidziguri said.

Dzidziguri intends to establish close relations with Georgians residing in Azerbaijan.

"I want to visit the Azerbaijani region where Georgians reside," he said.
