Azerbaijani Press Council to Begin Series of Discussions

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / The Azerbaijani Press Council will begin a series of discussions in the near future, the chairman of the Council, Aflatun Amashev, told Trend on 6 November.

According to Amashev, the Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Huseyn Avni Karslioglu, will pay a visit to the Press Council on 9 November and will participate in the round table discussion on 'Media and Terror'. The round table will focus on Turkey's fight against a terror organization of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the topic of combating terror.

On 14 November, the Press Council and the State Commission on Work with Religious Organizations will hold a round table discussion on 'Islamic Religion and the Danger of Wahabism' at the international press centre.

On 21 November, the Press Council and the Azerbaijani Television and Radio Council will hold a meeting on 'National Values and Media' in the international press centre.

According to Amashev, newspaper editors and members of the Press Council will visit Azerbaijani regions. The first visit will be to the Yevlakh region, where the editors will get familiar with the life of local population. The visits will begin in near future and will last by the end of the year, Amashev said.
