Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / The officials of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Administration met with the arrested editor-in-chief of the Azadlig newspaper, Ganimat Zahid.
Zahid is being kept in the Bail isolation cell 1 at the Penal Service of Azerbaijan.
The Yasamal District Court of Baku sentenced Zahidov to two months detention on 11 November. Zahidov is charged of hooliganism and deliberate damage to human health. If the accusations against Zahidov to be proved he would be sentenced to three years in prison.
According to Zahid, he did not undergo pressure and he had no claim against the prison conditions.
Elmira Suleymanova Ombudswoman appealed to the Azerbaijani Internal Ministry for fair investigation of the case.
International law enforcement organizations are against the arrest of the journalist.
Zahid's brother the collaborator of the Azadlig newspaper, Mirza Sakit, was arrested in 2006 due to illegal keep, purchase, transport of drugs.
