Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / The first web site for captured and missing persons was opened in Azerbaijan. The opening ceremony of the website was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan on 21 November.
The web site www.hesretyolu.az collects information about captured and missing persons and the places where they are being kept.
The participants of the event said that only one NGO works on the issue concerning the captured and missing, while 150 Armenian NGOs are engaged in this matter, as well as approximately 500 websites.
The Public Association to help the captured and missing, Hasrat Yolu, was founded on 1 July 2005. The organization unites 301 members, and functions in 17 regions of the country. The organization has departments in Kazakhstan and Akhisk. Moreover, the organization is planning opening departments in Ukraine, Turkey and Britain.
Esmira Orujeva, head of the organization, expressed alarm at the bad circumstances of women returned from prison. Former prisoners face a lot of problems after freedom.
Shahin Sailov, Secretary General of the State Commission on Captured and Missing People, charged international organizations with double policy towards Azerbaijan. International organizations do not react on appeals by relatives of captured and missing people.
