Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / One of the founders and activists of the Congress of World Azerbaijanis, Ajar Tigizadeh, charged the former chairman of the organization, Javad Darakhti with financial fraud.

"Darakhti went on the dole from Sweden State and as a result some $ 70,000 was collected in his account. Today the Sweden State demands explaination of the sources Darakhti received the funds," Tagizadeh said during the press-conference in Baku on 23 November.

CWA passed the state registration in Sweden. The bank account of the organization was opened on Darakhti's name. Therefore, the allocated funds were transported to Darakhti's private account.

According to Tagizadeh, Darkhti received € 20,000 from the chairman of the Azerbaijani State Commission on Work with Azerbaijanis Reside Abroad to hold meetings.

Tagizadeh denied the information stated by Darakhti that Sweden canceled CWA's registration. There is not a law in Sweden which abolishes operation of non-governmental organization. The State just demands Darkhti to explain the source he received the funds.

WCA was founded in the United States in 1997. The organization protects rights of Azerbaijanis reside abroad. In 2001 the organization was divided into two parts. The separated group became the Democratic World Congress of Azerbaijanis.
