Prosecutor Urges Total of 179 Years for Political Prisoners Including 15 Accused of Cooperation with Iranian Sepah

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / The Prosecutor insisted on a total of 179 years prison sentence to be given to a group of political criminals, including 15 members who were accused of cooperation with the Iranian Sepah.

The Prosecutor spoke at the hearing on the case of the group which were headed by Said Dadashbeyli which took place in the Court on Hard Crimes on 26 November.

The group are accused of planning a coup d'etat in order to establish an Islamic state, as well as of high treason. The investigation was carried out by the Central Investigation Department at the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry.

The Prosecutor urged for 15-year imprisonment for Said Dadashbeyli, Jeyhun Aliyev, Rashad Aliyev, Jahangir Karimov; 14-year imprisonment for Rasim Karimov, Samir Gojayev, Farid Agayev, Beybala Guliyev; 13-year imprisonment for Mikayil Idrisov, Emin Mehbaliyev; 10-year imprisonment for Rashad Ismayilov, Faig Ismayilov, Mubariz Suleymanov; 4-year imprisonment for Fatulla Badirov and 3-year imprisonment for Zaur Orujev, the Court on Hard Crimes reported to Trend.

Several of the attorneys spoke after the Prosecutor. They expressed discontent at the harsh sentence being given to the defendants.

The trial will continue on 27 November which will include the attorneys presenting their case.
