Two Suspects For Murder of Criminal ‘Chechen Ruslan’ in Baku Released

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / Two people who were detained due to murder of infamous criminal Ragub Rustamov known as 'Chechen Ruslan' in Baku were released

Akif Sariyev and Alinur Sariyev, who were in close proximity to Rustamov during the incident, were detained as suspects, the Narimanov District Prosecutor's Office reported on 27 November.

According to the deputy prosecutor of the Narimanov District, Javid Guliyev, they were released after interrogation. All accounts of the incident are being investigated.

On 25 November, a man was shot in Hasan Aliyev Street in front of the restaurant Tongal. The victim was Ragub Rustamov, 45, a Russian citizen from the Azerbaijani region of Agdam. Those detained were relatives. Alinur Sariyev's father was killed in Russia.

On the day of the incident the Sariyevs were in restaurant Tongal together with Rustamov the man left the restaurant and was shot from a white BMW driving past, which immediately disappeared. The victim was taken to hospital where he later died.

Narimanov District Prosecutor's Office filed a criminal case for premeditated homicide and illegal gain, transfer, sale, possession, transportation or carrying of firearms of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The victim was known in Russia as the infamous criminal 'Chechen Ruslan'. His murder was connected to his criminal activities and attempts on his life had been made several times before, a source at law-enforcement bodies reported to Trend.

This is the third firearm crime to take place in Baku in the last month.

A member of the representation office of the unrecognized Republic of Chechnya in Azerbaijan Imran Gaziyev was killed in the district of Binagadi.

One man was killed and three injured at a police station in Sabail District.
