(contactmusic.com ) - British rocker Pete Doherty is recording a secret solo album - sparking rumours he is planning to quit his band BABYSHAMBLES to pursue his own music career. The troubled star has infuriated record label bosses by spending more time recording his own material than writing new songs for the band - adding to fears that he is about to leave the group. The future of Babyshambles was thrown into doubt after the departure of guitarist Patrick Walden who quit on Thursday (22Nov07) - in the middle of their U.K. tour - and the loss of Doherty could spell the end for the rockers. Music producer Jake Four confirmed he has been working on Doherty's solo material. He says, "We go into the studio at about two in the morning and get stuff down. It sounds slower and more intimate."
