(contactmusic.com) - Pop singer Mika has been forced to postpone two London shows after being diagnosed with a virus. The Grace Kelly star was scheduled to perform at Hammersmith Apollo last night and Brixton Academy tonight but has been ordered to rest his voice for 48 hours."I can only apologise... for the inconvenience and disappointment this postponement has caused," he said in a statement, adding he hoped the gigs could be rescheduled for early 2008.The Beirut-born singer said the virus had affected the majority of his band and crew."I thought after last night's [Sunday's] performance I could do the shows, but this morning it was obvious I could not proceed," he wrote. "After consulting a specialist, I have been advised to rest my voice for a minimum of 48 hours. "If I did not do this, I would risk long-term damage to my vocal cords," he said. "Thank you all for your continued support and understanding." After being hotly tipped as a star of 2007, Mika's single Grace Kelly shot straight to number one, swiftly followed by his debut album Life in Cartoon Motion.
