Anniversary of World Declaration on Human Rights to be Marked in Azerbaijan during year

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / 10 December 2008 is sixty years of the World Declaration on Human Rights. On this occasion, the United Nations Organization (UNO) will start a global campaign on Day of Human Rights which will last one year. The topic of the campaign is 'Dignity and Justice for All'. Within its partnership with Azerbaijan's Commissioner on Human Rights, the UN Public Information Department will held special events in the Country as part of the campaign. To start the beginning of the 60th anniversary of the World Declaration on Human Rights, the event will bring together the representatives of the government, civil society and UN agencies.

The event will bring gifts in two contests: contest on children's pictures 'I and my rights' and contest of journalist articles 'Rights - for all!'.

Annually 10 December is marked as Day of Human Rights. In 1948 the UN General Assembly adopted a World Declaration on Human Rights. The Day of Human Rights began to be marked in 1950 after adopting the resolution No 423 (V) calling on all countries to join the UN General Assembly and mark 10 December as Day of Human Rights.
