Azerbaijan, Baku 10 January /corr. Trend E.Huseynli / The National TV and Radio Council of Azerbaijan (NTRC) will make a decision, regarding imposing a ban on the broadcasting of the telecasts in the foreign languages, in the TV channels functioning in Azerbaijan, said Nushiravan Maherremli, the Council's Chairman. According to him, this issue was discussed today at the meeting with the heads of the TV channels.
The Council made a decision, which imposed a ban on the broadcasting of films in the foreign languages from 1 January. The Turkish language was not named in this list because it is understandable for the population.
Nushiravan Maherremli said that in the exclusive cases, the permission will be given to the broadcasting of the intellectual, analytic and news telecasts in the foreign languages. In addition, the live telecast of the speech of the foreigners will be broadcasted in their language.
According to the information by the Council, the meeting also focused on the broadcasting of the films in the Turkish language. The heads of the TV channels stated that the tendency to broadcast films in the Turkish will not grow. According to Maherremli, if it continues, the Council will impose a ban on the broadcasting of films in this language after march.
