Snowfall in Azerbaijan Again

Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 January / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / Frosty weather will continue in Azerbaijan to the end of January.

"Sleet will be seen in some regions of Azerbaijan on 19 January, including Baku and the Absheron Peninsula," Asif Verdiyev the chief hydrologist of the National Hydro Metrology Department of the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, reported.

Frost and heavy snowfall has been seen during the last twelve days in Azerbaijan. A record low temperature -6? and -8? was observed in Baku on 7 and 8 January. Forecast warnings have been sent by the Department twice. Similar severe frosts were last recorded in Azerbaijan in 1935 at -3.5?.

Verdiyev said that the weather will be cloudy and a north-west wind will be observed in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. Verdiyev informed that the temperature will be 3? to 5? in the mornings and -2? to -5? during the night in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, in the Aran regions 3? to 8? in the mornings and 3? to 6? degrees during the night and in the foothill regions of Azerbaijan from 13? to 18? in the mornings and 1? to 6? during the night
