Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 January / Тrend J. Babayeva / The Institution for Freedom and Security of Reporters of Azerbaijan (IFSR) is developing an appeal to the President, asking to allot a place for the monument of the journalist -Elmar Huseynov, the chief editor of the Monitor magazine, who was assassinated in March 2005, Emin Huseynli, the chair of the Institution said in Baku on 17 January.
Elmar Huseynov was shot at the entrance of his bloc of flats.
Earlier, the Institution had applied to the Baku Administration. The application undersigned by over 500 people was submitted to the Baku Administration, within the framework of the campaign on perpetuation of the memory of Elmar Huseynov in November 2007 announced by the Institution. The Baku Administration replied that the decision in this connection can be made only by the President.
The Institution for Freedom and Security of Reporters of Azerbaijan (IFSR) was established in spring 2006. The purpose of the organization is to solve the numerous problems connected with the security and protection of the journalists during their professional activities.
