Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 January / corr. Trend E. Huseynli/ Azerbaijan will not make any concessions to Russia in the mutual broadcasting of the TV channels.
"The broadcasting of Russian RTR-Planeta on the national frequencies of Azerbaijan can be re-established only after our terms are accepted," Nishirevan Maherremli, the chairman of the National TV and Radio Council of Azerbaijan (NTRC) said to Trend.
The broadcasting of RTR-Planeta was stopped in accordance with the NTRC decision of 1 January. This was attributed to the absence of an agreement on the counter-broadcasting of the Azerbaijani TV channel in the national frequencies of Russia. Officials are expected to visit Baku to solve the problem within the next few days, Vasili Istratov, the Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan said to press.
According to Maherremli, the issue on broadcasting RTR-Planeta in Azerbaijan is still open. If Azerbaijani TV channel AzTv is broadcasted in Russia, NTRC can make an additional decision on broadcasting of RTR Planeta on the national frequencies of Azerbaijan, Maherremli said. "I do not have any information regarding the visit by Russian experts," NTRC chairman added.
