Christian  Cemetery to be Moved from   Baku through State Funds

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 January / Тrend corr G. Jabiyev / The graves in the Christian cemetery, located in the Narimanov District in Baku, will be moved through the State funds without any national, religious or racial discrimination, in accordance with the religious requirements and traditions and if possible with participation of the relatives of the buried persons.

The decision was taken on 17 January at the working commission's meeting on the arrangement of cemeteries in Baku, and the provision of correspondence of new cemeteries with national and esthetical requirements under the management of the head of the Baku Administration -Hajibala Abutalibov, the Baku Administration reported on 18 January.

The Christian cemetery is required to be moved, because of the laying of new highways in Baku. One part of the cemetery has already been moved. After the decision of the Baku Administration, a special territory was allocated for the new cemetery in the Hovsan settlement.

The appeals submitted to the commission will be considered and fulfilled, and the public will be timely informed of the work being carried out as well as the full transparency will be provided, the Baku Administration said.

The commission was established at the end of 2007, after the decision of Abutalibov.
