(showbizspy.com) - Pop princess Ashlee Simpson is reportedly being urged by her manager/father Joe Simpson to dump her rocker boyfriend Pete Wentz - so that she can be the star of a new reality dating show.
Joe - a former Baptist minister, known for his strict managerial style, believes the show will help promote Simpson's second album, Bittersweet World, which is due for release in March.
But the singer, 23, will be forced to end her relationship with the Fall Out Boy rocker first - so that she can be completely single for the new show.
A source tells OK! magazine, "He wants Ashlee to break up with Pete".
The insider adds of the proposed show, "It will put 14 guys in a house and they will compete to date Ashlee".
Joe Simpson clearly doesn't like Pete Wentz.
In December last year, it was claimed that he had banned Ashlee from bringing him home for Christmas - allegedly because of an interview he gave to Blender magazine, where he claimed that he had kissed other men.
"Joe was skeptical about the relationship from the start," an insider told Star magazine last year.
"There is a rumor that Pete tried to commit suicide, but with the news of his possible bisexuality, Joe blew his top."
