Water Level Rises in Tributary Rivers in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 January / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / The level of water rose in Azerbaijan at the beginning of January due to the snowfall, the press-service of the Ecology and Natural resources of Azerbaijan reported to Trend. The flow of water in the Kur transit river from Giragkasaman to Shamkir reservoir totaled 87.0 cu m/s, in the Ganikh River in Mingachevir reservoir 44 cu m/s and in Araz River in Arazs reservoir - 139 cu m/s.

The water level in the mountain rivers of the country, including rivers of South Caucasus made up an average of 70-120% of ten days, as well as 220-240% average in rivers of the Balakan-Shaki regions, 90% in rivers of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 40-110% in rivers in the Guba-Khachmaz regions and 20-50% in rivers of Lankaran-Astara regions.

Presently, the level of water in lower Kura is regulated by water flowing to the Mingachevir and Araz reservoirs.
