Azerbaijan’s National TV and Radio Council to Discuss Issue of ‘Europe Plus Baku’ Radio Station
Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 January /corr. Trend E.Huseynly / The National TV and Radio Council of Azerbaijan will discuss the issue of broadcasting of the programs in foreign language in the 'Europe Plus Baku' radio station. A meeting will be held with the Head of the 'Europe Plus Baku' radio station by the end of the month to resolve the problem, a source at the Council reported to Trend on 25 January.
According to the decision of the Council, from 1 January 2008 a ban was imposed on the broadcasting of the programs in foreign languages in the TV and radio channels in Azerbaijan. However, 'Europe Plus Baku' radio station is broadcasting its programs in Russian.
The Council stated that the programs and news should be exclusively in Azeri.
The National Council provided a five years license to the 'Europe Plus Baku' radio station in December 2006.
The 'Europe Plus Baku' radio station refused to comment on this issue.
