( dpa ) - "King of Melbourne," screams a report on the media house B92's website, while online editions of Serbian newspapers Sunday hailed Novak Djokovic's "historic" triumph at the Australian open as "Serbia's greatest" tennis success.
"Nole conquers Melbourne," "Novak Djokovic conquers Australia," and "Grand victory" are the headlines of early Monday's editions of the mass-circulation Blic, the stately Politika and the Danas dailies.
Under another headline, "Two Grand Slam titles for Serbia," Danas also stresses that Serb Predrag Zimonjic also lifted the Australian Open crown in mixed doubles with Chinese partner Sun Tiantian.
Newspapers could barely mask expectations of more titles from the Serb star. Blic said that Djokovic, 20, won the "youngest" Australian final with the win over Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 22.
"Djokovic, the first Serb to win a Grand-Slam title, became the third-youngest winner, age 20 years and 250 days, after defeating the previously unbeatable Roger Federer," Politika said.
